COMETS - Autonomous Casualty Simulation

COMETS is designed from its initial concept to the specifications of the Army Medical Department Center and School (AMEDD C&S). It will be a tetherless, battery operated, durable, fully-armored 190-pound full-body simulator providing training in battlefield tactical care, including airway management, hemorrhage control, chest trauma, CBRNE training, shock resuscitation, field management of multiple simultaneous casualties, and multi-system injury.

EVE - Endovascular Simulator

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Each year, more than 750,000 strokes result in over 150,000 deaths. Approximately 80% of strokes are ischemic, where decreased intracerebral flow results from intravascular thrombosis or embolism.

RIPS - Real-time Incident Preparedness

The SimGroup at the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT) was contracted by the National Bioterrorism Civilian Medical Response Center (CiMeRC) and the Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas (CERMUSA) to assist in bringing cutting-edge simulation technologies to the existing CiMeRC Biodefense Education Forum (Forum).

CEDRS - Comprehensive Emergency and Disaster Response Simulation

Leveraging the functionality of the RIPS Engine, CEDRS combines the high-level command and control simulation of RIPS with the low-level performance data gathered by intelligent mannequins such as COMETS. By combining the two user groups, a comprehensive, human-in-the-loop training environment is created.

TEMPEST - Soft Tissue Modeling

To support our efforts in physics-based surgical simulation, we require data on the mechanical properties of soft tissues, specifically the stress-strain/strain rate relationships over ranges relevant to the types of deformations that would be generated during typical surgical interventions.

VIRGIL - Chest Trauma Simulator

VIRGIL™ was developed by a team of researchers and scientists from The Simulation Group at CIMIT (Center for Integration of Medicine & Innovative Technology). CIMIT’s mission is to apply advanced technology to medicine in effective ways. As part of this effort, The Simulation Group works closely with the US Army Medical Research & Materiel Command and the Special Forces Medical Command.

CELTS - Laparoscopic Skills Trainer

Metrics are widely employed in virtual environments and provide a yardstick for performance measurement. The current method of defining metrics for medical simulation remains more an art than a science.

SITU - Smallpox Inoculation Training Unit

Thirty years has passed since smallpox inoculations were stopped in the US. When President Bush announced the return of smallpox vaccinations, there was a shortage of experienced smallpox inoculators since the most of the medical professionals who performed the last vaccinations had retired or left medicine.
